A Dose of Sci-fi, Every Day

One thing we can all use in a world that’s trying to bury us in reality is a little bit of make believe. Doesn’t matter if it’s trying to tell us something, help us understand something, or just trying to entertain us.

That’s why I love Daily Science Fiction. Every weekday, DSF brings a new story to its readers. Sometimes it makes you laugh, sometimes it makes you think, but it always gives you a little distance from the humdrum life we all live.

So maybe check it out. And while you’re there, read my latest published piece, Are You Real, about a guy trying to work up the nerve to ask a pretty girl an important question.

Hey, I’ll even give you a link.

And please, if you like it, give it a good score.

Thanks.

Ian, I LOVED your story, “Are You Real”! I get the Daily Sci-Fi email and once I read it, I had to come and tell you how perfect that story is! It really resonates. I lead a group for people who are highly empathic and we often talk about empathy in people (or lack thereof). I loved how you twisted the conversation from androids to people. (And the comparison to phones was classic – good shot!). You’re a good writer and I especially appreciate short stories that make you think about deeper things. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. 😃❤

Thank you so much for reading my story, and for leaving such a thoughtful and supportive comment. I’m so glad you liked the story. I’ve seen too much evidence of the lack of real empathy between people in our society. It’s saddening, when simply seeing things from another’s point of view would end so much of the strife in our world. Writing this piece was both enjoyable and meaningful for me, and I’m very pleased to see that it’s reached people. Thank you again.
